Beauty + Brews + Bites for a Cure

May 16, 2019 – Cornelius, North Carolina.

At the age of 17, Summer Hall was faced with answering a question for her High School Senior Project, “How will you make a difference in the future?” After a little research, she set her sights on helping raise money for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.  For Summer, the LLS organization was a perfect fit because she found that they give back more cents on the dollar than any other nonprofit and she wanted to truly make a difference in the future for these people that were faced with blood cancer. That year Summer rallied a group of friends to wash cars and take on odd jobs in order to raise money and participate in the Light the Night Walk.

Fast forward to today and she is still doing her part to help change peoples lives with an awesome event tonight at Old Town Public House benefiting LLS.

Summer Hall and Old Town Cornelius team up to raise money to fight against cancer at a fundraiser

What Is The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society?

The LLS is the largest funder of cutting edge research to find a cure for cancer and has invested over $1.2 billion to this fight. While their initial research was focused on fighting blood-related cancers, thanks to their discoveries, these revolutionary treatments are now being tested in clinical trials for other cancers and are saving lives!

24 Years Later

Summer’s involvement didn’t stop with that senior project! Over the last 24 years, she still continues to be very involved with LLS. In 2011 she was named Charlotte’s Woman of the Year and in 2016 she competed and won the All-Star Alumni National title.

Tomorrow she has the chance to win again, by raising the most money for LLS for our area.

What Is a MWOY All Star Alumni?

The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s (LLS) Man & Woman of the Year campaign is a 10-week philanthropic competition for leaders in local communities across the United States. Candidates and their teammates raise funds for LLS in honor of local blood cancer survivors, the Boy & Girl of the Year. The title “Man or Woman of the Year” is awarded to the candidate whose team raises the most funds during the competition. The top man & woman candidate in the country are awarded the national title.
